For the home, I tend to prefer a larger scale dot, in muted colors or metalics, to keep the look grown up.

To wear, I tend to prefer a smaller spot, because it's more flattering. Subtle colors (blacks, tans...) also up the chic factor. Floaty chiffon doesn't hurt, either!
