Where I Live - News

I've got some big news! My boyfriend and are moving in together, (with a roommate, too!) The move is in just a few weeks, and I'm incredibly excited. Before I say goodbye to the old place, I thought I'd document and share. I've loved this room.

This is what greets me when I walk in the door:

The biggest attention getter in the room is the bed. It was a super steal on clearance from Brocade Home.  I love the curved detail on the base (in the photo above). I'll be sad to say goodbye to my grey trellis Nate Berkus sheets, (they're a full, and we'll be sharing a queen,) but I'm planning on taking the pillowcases with me. I made the little flowered pillow. The secretary was my mom's, and the little white chair was my first ever furniture rehab. I've reupholstered the seat countless times - often with a cloth napkin! I love the way it relates to the bed.

I made the light fixture by hacking off the handle of a paper parasol. The central piece in the gallery wall behind the couch belonged to my grandpa. It was his favorite view on  the way to the family cabin in Glen Haven, Michingan. It makes me smile.

My bookshelves hold many of my favorite things; a sign I stole in Italy, my collection of champagne flutes, framed fall leaves sent from my grandma in New York, and books, of course! I "wallpapered" the backs of the shelves with wrapping paper a few years ago. I can't wait to change it up for the new space!

Here's a close up of a few more treasured items. The ticket stub looks older than it is. I accidentally washed it, but wanted to hold onto it, because it's from the night my boyfriend and I got together. The dried wildflowers are from him, too. He picked them in Truckee that first summer, pressed them, and sent them to me in the mail. Naturally they live with the ticket stub.

It's been a great room. Thanks for stopping by!
